Product Use: Western blotting | Antibody microarray

Antibody Dilution Recommended: 2 µg/ml for immunoblotting

Antibody Potency: Very weak immunoreactivity of a target-sized protein by Western blotting in mouse testes.

Antibody Species Reactivity: Human

Antibody Positive Control: The observed molecular mass of the processed target protein on SDS-PAGE gels is reported to be around 55-65 kDa.

Antibody Specificity: High

Antibody Cross Reactivity: No significant cross-reactivities detected in various human cancer cell lines, including A431, HEK-293, HeLa, HepG2, Jurkat and MCF7 cells, except for medium ~75 and ~30 kDa proteins. Strong ~ 30 kDa cross-reactive protein was also detected in mouse thymus as well as a weaker ~48 kDa protein.

Scientific Background: PCTK2 (PCTAIRE2, CDK17) is a protein-serine/threonine kinase of the CMGC group and CDK family. It functions in terminally differentiated neurons. It is also identified to be associated with circulating phospholipid and sphingolipid concentrations. This kinase likely phosphorylates histone H1. Insertional mutagenesis studies in mice support a role for PCTK2 in mouse cancer oncogenesis.
