Scientific Background: MEKK2 (MAP3K2) is a protein-serine/threonine kinase of the STE group and STE11 family. It is required for cytokine production in cultured mast cells. The protein is one of the kinases that regulate different steps of the caveolar cycle. It activated by phosphorylation on T524. Methylation of the protein increases MAP kinase signalling and promotes Ras-driven carcinomas.
