Scientific Background: KHS1 (MAP4K5) is a protein-serine/threonine kinase of the STE group and STE20 family. It has been proposed to be upstream of the JUN N-terminal pathway and may respond to environmental stresses. A mutation in KHS1, K49R, inhibits the kinase phosphotransferase activity and inhibits downstream JNK proteins.
